The Blog

We like to share our thoughts on certain subjects - domains, online tech, current affairs etc. We'll try to keep it as active as possible with regular updates, it will be both satirical and serious at times.

The BBC just can't stop with its pro EU propaganda, this time they held a debate packed with Pro EU guests in an attempt to show that the majority and mainstream want to stay in the EU. Add to that, the host Victoria Derbyshire being blatantly biased in her views and treatment of Brexit speakers - constantly interrupting them - and we have all the ingredients for another sham program. Unfortunately once again they have been spotted trying to rig another debate, the organisation is no longer credible and should be disbanded. Just as the American's have now realised when…

Just Acquired Agreed.uk

We've managed to purchase the domain name Agreed.uk at auction. Although the name does not come with its little .co.uk brother, we are happy to add it to our future development pile. GreyWing is still of the opinion that the future is very much in the .uk domain name, we still expect to see a reduction in the number of sites using .co.uk as their primary site in the coming years. Our initial thoughts for the name are that we can use it for a nice finance site. The word "Agreed" gives weight to a loan brand for those that…
I wanted to add my own little 2p to the debate about Nominet suspending domain names without a Court Order. The debate seems to have seen Nominet take a fair bit of stick for this, but I don’t think it is fair and I want to give some real examples of why I think they are right. Some of the businesses I am involved in are in the lending sector; I own brands like Quick Loans, Easy Loans and about another 20 active sites. We receive emails on a daily basis from people who have been victims of deceptions from…
Just before Christmas, a German anti immigrant movement Pegida released a song that sold very well on Amazon. What Amazon did next is something that they might live to regret. Amazon donated the profits from selling the song to immigrant charities, a major snub, or even open mockery of those German people who had bought the song to support their stance against immigration. Now that Germany has been rocked by hundreds of sex attacks by immigrants, Amazon are left looking rather foolish and embarrassed. This must well be a clear lesson to companies to stay well out of emotive political…

How to kick start .uk

The adoption of .uk has been a little slower than most would have hoped. Whilst I'm in no doubt that .uk will eventually become dominant, there are certain things that Nominet could do to hurry it along. It would be a great help to Nominet if they were to publish anonymised data that said that some big companies were losing xxxxx number of visitors a day because they weren't using their .uk. Most people in countries outside of the UK expect UK businesses to be on .uk - from their point of view why would we be on .co.uk? For…
